Mission, Philosophy & Vision

Gwynedd Friends School offers an educational program rooted in Quaker values to preschool and kindergarten-aged children. Children become independent, reflective, and confident learners, while developing a sense of identity and respect for others in the community.

The foundation of our school is the Quaker belief that there is "that of God" in every person. We seek to nurture and celebrate this Light in each one of our students. Our school is committed to helping young children develop a love of learning. We believe that hands-on discovery, the exploration of the natural world, and nurturing a caring awareness of the broader community are important tasks for the young child.

GFS students use their foundation of curiosity, caring, and a love for learning to develop their talents to the fullest and to become responsible global citizens who contribute positively to their chosen communities.

Founded in 1943, Gwynedd Friends School celebrates a spiritual presence in the local community. Gwynedd Friends School maintains close ties with Gwynedd Friends Meeting (Quakers) through a care relationship. Our classrooms are located in the 1998 building and in the 1857 School House, both maintained by Gwynedd Friends Meeting.
